ORC Fall 2020: Sharing plans for a DIY boho headboard
Week four of One Room Challenge has been a lot of brainstorming for the DIY headboard. Sharing a first draft of the plan and inspiration below!
The Original Inspiration
If you recall from the toddler girl’s boho room mood board, I shared this headboard as inspiration for my DIY plans. I love the texture and pop of green.
A Fresh Spin
While I really like the original reference, I’ve been determined to put my own spin on the DIY and create something I hadn’t seen yet. I had planned to utilize round reed and/or willow (my mom is a basket weaver) but couldn’t figure out a plan that felt quite right. Then I saw these two projects from @caseymason_ and @panelsofmyhome and the lightbulb went on! Using wood balls to give a bit of a Jenny Lind vibe felt just right.
Current Plan
My current plan is to start with a plywood sheet and cut out my frame to use as the backing for the arch (similar to how @jessiegirlhome did with her DIY headboard). This will serve to support the wood ball halves which I’ll use to cover the plywood like @caseymason_’s mirror above. I plan to paint the balls a pretty green tone and add round reed or willow arches in between (as you can maybe comprehend from my silly scribble). I may have to adjust plans once I get a feel for the sturdiness of this design, but I’m eager to get started! The supplies should be arriving in the next couple days!
